STILLWATER, Okla. – One of the least eventful games of the college season - at least scoring-wise - ended in fitting fashion for the Cowgirls.
Oklahoma State topped Arkansas 1-0 in eight innings on Tuesday, putting a cap on a tense contest where something finally had to give.
After entering extra innings, the only run of the day came from a barrage of Arkansas mistakes.
Designated player Amy Graham reached first on a walk, then advanced to third on a throwing error after Mariah Gearhart singled.
She then came home with the clinching run on an Arkansas fielding error, securing a hard-fought victory on an unearned run. Ari Morrison picked up the RBI for the run when her grounder went through the legs of the Razorbacks’ shortstop and rolled all the way to the wall.
OSU picked up six hits in the game despite scoring just one run.
Kat Espinosa got the win for Oklahoma State, giving up two hits in two innings. She took over for Morgan Hawkins, who threw six innings and gave up three hits.
Oklahoma State was supposed to play Tulsa at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, but that game was canceled due to cold weather. The Arkansas-Tulsa matchup was canceled as well, leaving two of the three Border Wars games unplayed.
OSU (29-7) will host the No. 8 Texas Longhorns on Saturday at 2 p.m.
