STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma State starter Brad Propst kept the Texas offense off balance to top the No. 4 Longhorns 3-1 to avenge a 15-inning loss from the night before.
Propst (4-1) pitched a complete-game for the Cowboys (17-6, 2-3), giving up just seven hits and one earned run – which came in the top of the ninth – and struck out six Longhorn batters.
Texas’ (17-6, 4-1) Hoby Milner (2-1) comes away with a loss, after allowing one earned run on five hits in six full innings pitched.
Conversely, the OSU offense got going early to put the Longhorns in an unfamiliar situation – playing from behind. Jared Womack doubled to lead off the bottom of the second and Davis Duren singled in the next at-bat to bring him home and take a 1-0 lead.
Five innings later, Luis Uribe scored on a throwing error and Gabe Weidenaer laid down a sacrifice bunt in the next at bat to push the led to three runs.
Oklahoma State and the Longhorns will play the rubber match at 1 p.m. Sunday.
