TULSA, Oklahoma -- Early Sunday evening, Tulsa Athletic Director Bubba Cunningham announced that the Golden Hurricane basketball squad would not be competing in the CBI, saying that not receiving an invitation to the National Invitational Tournament would be a slight.

Hours later, the Golden Hurricane's season ended not on the court, but in a conference room after not being invited to play in the 2011 NIT.

Despite Tulsa’s second place in the regular season of the Conference USA – ahead of Memphis and UTEP, who were selected to the NCAA and NIT respectively – the Golden Hurricane will not compete in one of the three post-season tournaments.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys, who finished ninth in the Big 12, is a third seed and will host No. 6 Harvard in the first round.
