NORMAN, Okla. – For a team working off of six straight losses, No. 2 Kansas is a tough game to attempt to bounce back.
The Jayhawks outran the outmatched and smaller Sooners with an 82-70 victory over OU at the Lloyd Noble Center.
Kansas scored at will, especially down low, as Markieff and Marcus Morris combined for 42 points and 19 rebounds.
KU shot 57 percent as a team on the day.
Oklahoma led for just 37 seconds early in the game and kept up only briefly after that.
A 3-pointer from Tyler Neal, who got the start on Saturday, put OU up 8-7, and another 3 from Cameron Clark kept OU up 11-10 for a moment.
But the Jayhawks fired off a 13-2 run to grab a double digit lead just eight minutes into the game.
By halftime, the KU lead was 12 and the second half only got worse from that point. Kansas led by as many as 21 before calling off the dogs in the end.
Cade Davis led all OU scorers with 19, 10 of those points coming from the free-throw line.
Andrew Fitzgerald added 16 points and Cameron Clark was the only other Sooner in double figures with 10.
Just eight players saw time for Oklahoma, which got outrebounded 33-14 in the game. The Sooners committed just six turnovers despite the loss.
Thunder players and former Kansas big men Nick Collison and Cole Aldrich made the trip to watch their alma mater play.
The Sooners have two games left in the regular season, starting with a road game at Texas Tech at 6:30 p.m. on March 2.
