STILLWATER, Okla. – The Oklahoma State baseball team jumped out to a huge early lead and coasted from there in a 13-0 rout of Bryant University Saturday.
The Cowboys (2-0) scored all 13 of their runs in the first three innings, starting with an RBI single by Zach Johnson in the first. Luis Uribe followed with an RBI double, and Mark Ginther drove in another run with a groundout to give OSU a 3-0 lead heading into the second inning.
The Cowboys lit up the scoreboard in both the second and third innings, batting around and scoring five runs in both frames. Hunter Bailey connected on a two-run home run in the second inning, and Uribe drove home two more with a double later in the inning.
Jared Womack and Johnson each added RBI singles in the third, and the Cowboys were handed three more runs thanks to a wild pitch and error. From that point forward, it was all about the pitching.
Bryant (0-2) used a total of seven pitchers in the game, but its last five combined to give up six hits in six quality innings. OSU starter Andrew Heaney earned a win after pitching seven shutout innings, giving up just two hits and striking out eight.
The Cowboys still have not surrendered a run after playing two games against Bryant to start the season. OSU won its season opener 8-0 Friday, and will conclude its three-game series at noon Sunday.
