TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Tulsa Golden Hurricane couldn’t stop the bleeding Thursday and fell to the Houston Cougars 72-56 to extend its losing streak to eight consecutive.
Tulsa managed just one lead in the game, coming just three minutes into the contest. Houston scored the games’ first four points and Tulsa responded with five consecutive, capped by a Chanice Scott three-ball to take a 5-4 lead.
However the Cougars answered on their next possession with a Porsche Landry layup to retake the lead, marking the last lead change of the contest.
The lead steadily expanded for the remainder of the game and, despite not scoring for the contest’s final 3:34, the Cougars managed a comfortable, double-digit win.
Not a single Tulsa player managed to score in double-digits. Jermaine Kermis led the charge for the Golden Hurricane with nine points, while Loren McDaniel contributed eight points and 15 rebounds.
Lesslee Mason led all scorers with 18 points and 10 rebounds, with Courtney Taylor adding 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Cougars.
The Golden Hurricane will try to end the skid at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Reynolds Center against Marshall.
