Oklahoma Sooners' Pitching Comes up Big Again
OU got yet another great outing from their staff to cap off their season-opening tournament with a win.

TEMPE, Arizona -- Oklahoma finished off a season-opening tournament with a 5-0 win over the Western Michigan Broncos to cap off the Kajikawa Classic.
Pitchers Kristen Allen (1-0) and Allee Allen combined for a one-hit shutout. Kristen Allen got the start for the Sooners, pitching five innings of no-hit softball and striking out six of the batters she faced. Allee Allen came in to finish off the final two innings, allowing just one hit in relief.
Diana Patterson (0-2) received a loss for the outing, allowing four earned runs on nine hits in her four innings of service for the Broncos.
The Sooners started off quickly, scoring on a Haley Nix ground-rule double to left field to bring Destinee Martinez home from third to take a 1-0 lead.
Two innings later, Jessica Shults put up the first two of her four RBIs on a two-run home run to left field to extend the lead to three runs. In the next inning, Shults knocked a two-RBI single to center field to score Brianna Turang and Ali Vandever home to take a 5-0 lead.
Oklahoma will come home for its home opener against St. Gregory’s at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
