TULSA, Okla. – Oral Roberts chose the right time to turn it on offensively against North Dakota State and as a result, gave its coach a milestone.

Scott Sutton became ORU’s all-time winningest coach with an 81-73 victory against the Bison on Saturday night. His career win total now stands at 215, passing Ken Trickey who won 214 for the Golden Eagles from 1969-74 and 1987-93.

Sutton is currently The Summit League’s active leader in wins, conference wins, conference games coaches and overall winning percentage (.583).

Despite trailing for the first 29 minutes of the game, ORU was able to rally back to secure a victory against the Bison.

With 11:07 left in the game, Steven Roundtree hit two free throws to give the Golden Eagles their first lead of the game at 59-57.

ORU was able to keep NDSU at arm’s length from that point for its second conference win in three days.

The Bison led by as many as 14 points in the first half, thanks in large part to 63 percent shooting in the half. They also held a 10-point halftime lead.

But ORU’s Warren Niles and Dominique Morrison combined for 27 second half points to help the Golden Eagles take and hold the lead.

Oral Roberts outrebounded NDSU 37-26 and also forced the Bison into 18 turnovers.

Niles, Damen Bell-Holter and Roderick Pearson had 18 each for the Golden Eagles and Morrison added 14.

ORU will return to action Thursday on the road at UMKC. Tipoff is set for 7:05 p.m.
