FORT WAYNE, Indiana -- A pair of free throws sealed the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles’ fate, as the IPFW Mastodons claimed an 80-77 win Saturday night.
IPFW’s Zach Plackemeier sank a 3-pointer with less than :50 left in the game, taking a 77-74 lead. He was later fouled, sending him to the charity line, where he made both shots, sealing the Golden Eagles’ fate.
The Mastodons led by as many as 12 points throughout the second half, refusing to let ORU gain any kind of momentum.
Damen Bell-Holter scored a game-high 22 points and had 10 rebounds for the Golden Eagles (9-14, 6-5). Dominique Morrison added 17 points and Warren Niles had 16 for Oral Roberts.
Trey McCorkle just missed a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Plackemeier finished with 14 points for IPFW.
The Golden Eagles will next host the South Dakota State Jackrabbits on Feb. 3 at 7:05 p.m.
