TULSA, Oklahoma—Oral Roberts forward Dominique Morrison will miss up to three weeks with a torn lateral meniscus.
“I hate this for Dominique and for the entire team,” said ORU head coach Scott Sutton. “The good news is that this isn’t a season-ending injury. He’ll be back to practice within a couple of weeks and hopefully return to game action shortly thereafter.”
The injury to his left lateral meniscus occurred during practice on New Year’s Day and Morrison will undergo surgery Tuesday to repair the torn cartilage.
Morrison has started all 79 games of his ORU career and currently leads the Summit league in scoring with 18.4 points per game.
Last month Morrison became the 28th player in school history to reach 1,000 career points and he currently ranks 23rd in career scoring.
“If there is any good news about Dominique’s injury it’s that someone else will have an opportunity to step in and elevate their game,” said Sutton. “We’re going to need someone, or several people, to step up and help fill the void until Dominique comes back.”
ORU faces Akron Monday at 6 p.m. before continuing a three-game road trip Thursday at North Dakota State and Saturday at South Dakota State.
