Two Cowboys and a Sooner Make Maxwell Award Semifinalists

PHILADELPHIA --Oklahoma State ‘s Kendall Hunter and Justin Blackmon and Oklahoma’s Ryan Broyles have been named as three of the 16 semifinalists for the 2010 Maxwell Award, announced Monday by the Maxwell Football Club.
The award is presented annually to the Collegiate Player of the Year in memory of former player Robert W. (Tiny) Maxwell.
Hunter and Blackmon form the nation?s only 1,000-yard rusher/1,000-yard receiver duo in the country to date. Hunter is the nation?s third leading rusher with 1,240 yards and an average of 137.8 yards per game. Blackmon leads the country in receiving with 1,285 yards and an average of 160.6 yards per game.
Sooner wide receiver Ryan Broyles has 86 catches for 1,077 yards and eight touchdowns this year.
The list of 16 semifinalists will be trimmed to three finalists on Nov. 22.
Voters include head football coaches, members of the Maxwell Football Club, and sportswriters and broadcasters from across the country.
