Saturday the Texas Longhorns face Oklahoma in one of college football’s greatest games; the Red River Rivalry.
Some still call it the Red River Shootout, but no matter the name, the history spans many years and the tradition runs deep.
This year’s clash between the two schools is the 105th renewal of the Red River Rivalry, and the game has been played in the Cotton Bowl every year since 1929.
Oklahoma is the home team for this year’s game, and the No. 8 Sooners are looking for a win in order to stay undefeated on the year.
Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. and will be televised on ABC.
Last week, Oklahoma held on for a 31-29 victory at Cincinnati, while Texas dropped a 34-12 decision at home to UCLA.
Texas leads the series 59-40-5 since the Big 12 was formed and 1996, and last year Texas won 16-13 in the closest game in the series since 1997. Head coach Bob Stoops is 6-5 vs. Texas including a stretch of five consecutive wins in the series from 2000-2004.
