NORMAN, Oklahoma -- The pressure mounted last Saturday, as Oklahoma’s Jimmy Stevens laced up his cleats in replacement of Patrick O’Hara, who couldn’t play after suffering a muscle strain.
Stevens, a product of Heritage Hall, isn’t a stranger to the pressure. Last season, Stevens started for the first six games, hitting 11 of his 13 attempts on the season.
In Saturday’s game against the Air Force, Stevens hit both of his field goal attempts--one from 32 yards out and another from 41. He also put up three extra points for the No. 8 Sooners. On Monday, Stoops announced Stevens would once again be kicking in place of O’Hara, who was still sore from his muscle injury.
“It was great to see Jimmy do so well because he does work hard,” Stoops said in his weekly one-on-one interview with Dean Blevins. “He was excellent.”
In addition to O’Hara, Stoops will also be without Austin Box (back injury) and Brennan Clay (concussion).
The Sooners will travel to Cincinnati Saturday, looking for their fourth win of the season. Kickoff is slated for 5:00 p.m.
