OKLAHOMA CITY – A stint on the mound from former major league pitcher Mark Prior was not nearly enough to save the RedHawks on Sunday from a 9-1 loss to Omaha.

Prior, who hasn’t pitched in the major leagues since 2006, was picked up by the Texas Rangers organization Saturday and saw his first action with the RedHawks on Sunday.

He pitched one inning, striking out two batters and giving up two hits.

Meanwhile, the rest of the OKC pitching staff had a troubling night.

The RedHawks gave up 15 hits and nine runs, including five runs in the top of the ninth inning.

Oklahoma City’s only run came in the bottom of the sixth, when outfielder Brandon Boggs doubled to bring in catcher Max Ramirez. By that point, the RedHawks were down 2-1, but it would only get worse from there.

OKC had three errors on the night as well.

Tanner Scheppers was credited with the loss for the RedHawks, pitching three innings and giving up two runs on four hits. Ben Snyder pitched 4.2 innings for OKC and gave up seven runs and eight hits.

Anthony Lerew got the win for the Royals.

The two teams will meet again at 1:05 p.m. Monday at the Bricktown Ballpark.
