TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Tulsa Drillers dropped the final game of their six-game home stand to the Frisco Rough Riders 2-1 Monday.
The Rough Riders (64-61) took an early lead with a Joey Butler leadoff home run in the top of the second. Frisco hit another solo home run in the top of the seventh, this in the second at-bat of the inning by John Whittleman.
Tulsa (60-65) closed the deficit to one run with a solo home run of its own – Radames Nazario in the second at-bat of the inning – in the bottom of the eighth. Tulsa had a chance with the tying run on base with one out in the bottom of the ninth, but Scott Beerer grounded into a double play to end the game.
Clayton Hamilton (1-0) notched his first win of the season after not allowing an earned run in his seven innings of service. Five innings and one earned run netted Aaron Cook (0-1) his first loss of the season.
The Drillers will start a four-game series with the Arkansas Travelers at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday.
