ROUND ROCK, Texas – When a team records two triples and a home run in the first inning, it must be that team's night.

The RedHawks did just that on Sunday, jumping out to an early lead to defeat the Round Rock Express, 4-2.

Outfielder Willy Taveras started the RedHawks off on the right foot with a triple in the first, followed by a Chris David homer to put OKC up 2-0.

Second baseman Hernan Iribarren also recorded a triple, but Oklahoma City stranded him on third, striking out to end the inning.

Taveras struck again in the top of the third, homering to left field to put the RedHawks up 3-0.

Round Rock attempted to scrape back into the game, with Andrew Locke hitting a home run in the bottom of the of the sixth. The Express also managed a run in bottom of the seventh, with Collin DeLome reaching home on an OKC throwing error.

But Oklahoma City would hold the Express scoreless for the rest of the game, also adding a home run from James Tomlin in the top of the eighth for insurance.

Doug Mathis got the win pitching for the RedHawks, giving up five hits and one earned run in six innings. Josh Banks was credited with the loss for the Express.

The teams will continue their series at 7:05 p.m. on Monday in Round Rock.
