TULSA, Oklahoma – The Tampa Bay Storm harassed quarterback Justin Allgood all night and ended the Tulsa Talons' season with a 68-38 drubbing in the first round of the playoffs Saturday.
The Storm never allowed Allgood to gain any rhythm and forced him into throwing three interceptions and going just 20-of-43 for 242 yards. Storm rookie Erick McIntosh recorded two of the three picks and returned one of them to the 3-yard line to set up an easy score.
Allgood also managed to throw six touchdowns on the night, but was outshined by Tampa Bay quarterback Brett Dietz. Dietz had just as many touchdowns as incompletions, going 22-of-29 for 263 yards and seven scores.
The Talons’ defensive line struggled to get any pressure on the quarterback, allowing Dietz’s big night. Tulsa registered just one sack, and that came against backup Drew Weatherford late in the game.
The Storm will now advance to the second round of the playoffs and face the Orlando Predators at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 14.
