Drillers Start Road Trip with Two-Run Win
Tulsa kept the Travelers' offense in check to claim the series-opening win.

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas -- The Tulsa Drillers snapped their two-game losing streak against the Arkansas Travelers with a 3-1 win Friday.
Tulsa’s (50-53) offense got started early with a Bronson Sardinha solo home run to center field in the first at-bat of the game.
In the top of the second, Jason Van Kooten tripled to center field and Scott Beerer hit a sacrifice fly in the next at-bat to bring him home and extend the lead to 2-0. Jeff Kindel recorded an RBI in the top of the sixth with a sacrifice fly to left field to score Charles Blackmon and take at 3-0 lead.
The Travelers’ (36-65) only score of the game came in the bottom of the sixth when Alexi Amarista grounded into a force out at second base, allowing Tyson Auer to score.
Keith Weiser (8-6) kept the Arkansas offense in check, allowing just seven hits and no earned runs in his seven innings of service. Ryan Brasier (5-9) was credited with a loss for Arkansas after allowing three earned runs on six hits in his seven-inning outing.
The Drillers will continue their four-game series with Arkansas at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
