NORMAN, Oklahoma -- Former Oklahoma Sooner and Pro-Bowl running back Adrian Peterson returned to Norman Friday to hold a private football camp for Oklahoma City at-risk youth.
Not only did the Heisman Trophy winner coach the 15 teens from Seeworth Academy on football, but he took time out to coach the kids on life.
“If you keep God first, give God your time and you surround yourself with positive people then you will prosper,” said Peterson. “When you surround yourself with negative people and negative situations you can always expect something negative to happen.”
Peterson grew up in Palestine, Texas – an east-Texas town of less than 18,000 – and touched on mistakes he made growing up.
“I got derailed sometimes. I wasn’t perfect,” said Peterson. “Just because you get off track, you’re not lost. God is always on your side and he will get you back on track.”
His All Day Foundation was established to help youth organizations in both Oklahoma and in Minnesota. For more information visit www.alldayfoundation.org
