OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz trailed just once in their 52-42 victory over Iowa Saturday. The victory marks the third straight for the Dawgz.
Ryan Vena scored the first touchdown of the game on a 1-yard run to give Iowa a 7-0 lead.
Oklahoma City would score the next 21 points including a Fred Shaw 50-yard interception return for a touchdown. Shaw would also force a fumble later in the game. The Yard Dawgz led 28-21 at halftime.
Michael Salerno’s field goal put Oklahoma City up 31-21 in the third quarter and was the only score that not a touchdown pass in the second half. The third and fourth quarter turned into a quarterback duel as Tommy Grady and Ryan Vena traded touchdowns.
Both quarterbacks threw five touchdowns but Vena got picked off twice to lose the duel to Grady. The Oklahoma City quarterback racked up 291 yards on 29-of-41 passing. Vena amassed 310 yards on 26-of-38 passing.
Timon Marshall caught three touchdown passes and hauled in 13 passes for 151 receiving yards.
The Yard Dawgz travel to Cleveland next Saturday to face the Gladiators at 7:00 p.m.
