Oklahoma Eliminated in College World Series

The Sooners lost a heartbreaker in extra innings to South Carolina.

OMAHA, Nebraska -- Brady Thomas hit a walkoff single in the bottom of the 12th inning to give South Carolina a 3-2 victory over Oklahoma in the College World Series Thursday, eliminating Oklahoma from the College World Series.

Jackie Bradley Jr. muscled an RBI single through the infield in the bottom of the 12th to tie the game 2-2, and managed to score on the next play on the Thomas walkoff. Both runs came with two outs in the 12th.

Tyler Ogle led off the 12th with a solo home run to right center to give OU a 2-1 lead.

The Gamecocks had a couple of chances to take the lead in extra innings, but could not take advantage. South Carolina advanced a runner to second with one out, but pitcher Ryan Duke was able to get the last two outs without any damage.

The Gamecocks had runners on first and second in the bottom of the 11th, but pitcher Jeremy Erben was able to force an inning-ending ground out.
OU put runners on first and second with one out in the top of the ninth.

However, the Sooners could not capitalize, as Cameron Seitzer grounded into a double play to end the inning.

Evan Marzilli made the most of his fourth appearance against OU pitcher Zach Neal, hitting a double to lead off the eighth inning. He was the last batter Neal faced. Marzilli would score later in the inning to tie the game 1-1.

It was the only run Neal allowed. He gave up one earned run in seven innings, but received a no decision.

Neal was able to dodge two big jams in the first and fifth inning. He gave up a hit to the first batter he faced; the runner advance to third on a throwing error after stealing second with one out, but Neal was able to get back-to-back fly outs to end the inning.

The Gamecocks were able to load the bases in the bottom of the fifth with two outs. Neal was able to get Marzilli to foul out to end the inning. Caleb Bushyhead drove in Tyler Ogle for the first run of the game in the top of the second.

Duke was tagged with the loss after giving up the last two runs of the game.

South Carolina will face Clemson at 8 p.m. Friday.

OU beat South Carolina 4-3 Sunday in the two teams opening game of the CWS.
