Oklahoma City RedHawks Surrender Lead to New Orleans

The RedHawks were out hit 16-8 and blew a four-run lead in their loss to the Zephyrs.

NEW ORLEANS -- The Oklahoma City RedHawks started off hot against New Orleans but could not maintain their 4-0 advantage as the Zephyrs rallied to an 8-4 victory Thursday.

All of the RedHawks runs came in the top of the second inning. Craig Gentry drove in the first run of game to put two runners on base for Oklahoma City. Esteban German cleared the bases with a three-run home run to center to put the RedHawks on top 4-0.

New Orleans would come back on the strength of its small ball abilities. The Zephyrs scored three runs in the third inning and another three in the fifth by with just two extra base hits.

Bryan Peterson led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a solo home run to tie the game 4-4. Brad Davis scored the final run of the game in the sixth on a Hector Luna single.

Willie Eyre (3-4) was tagged with the loss after giving up four runs (two earned) in two innings of relief work.

Starter Brian Lawrence (6-5) gained the win for New Orleans allowing four runs in seven innings.

The two teams continue their series at 7:00 p.m. Thursday.
