OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City fell 7-3 against Memphis Friday night.
The Redbirds jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning and never trailed after that. Memphis scored seven runs on 14 hits despite not getting a home run. The Redbirds scored single runs in the third, fourth, eighth and ninth inning.
Brandon Boggs scored the first run for Oklahoma City in the bottom of the first to make it a 3-1 game. Boggs would score on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh to bring the RedHawks within 5-3. Gregorio Pettit crossed the plate a couple of plays earlier to give Oklahoma City its second run of the game.
Michael Ballard (6-3) gave up five runs (four earned) on 10 hits in 4.1 innings and was tagged with the loss for Oklahoma City.
Brandon Dickson (3-4) earned the win after allowing two earned runs in six innings.
The RedHawks hit the road to start a four-game set with Omaha at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
