FRISCO, Texas -- The Tulsa Drillers lost their last game of the series with the Frisco RoughRiders 9-6 Monday.
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when Taylor Teagarden homered to right center field with two runners on to give Frisco (30-20) a 3-0 lead. Three at-bats later with the bases loaded, Matthew Lawson doubled to clear the bases and push the lead to five runs. Emerson Frostad followed with a homer to center field to bring Lawson home and take an 8-0 lead.
The RoughRiders’ explosive fourth inning ended Tulsa (20-29) pitcher Christian Friedrich’s (0-3) day after 3.1 innings. Blake Bevan (8-2) was credited with a win after giving up three earned runs on seven hits in 6.1 innings of service.
Tulsa closed the gap with four runs in the top of the seventh. Ryan Harvey started the scoring with a solo home run in the first at-bat of the inning. Two at-bats later, Wilin Rosario singled to left field to bring Danile Mayora home to pull within six runs. After a pitching change, Anthony Jackson singled to right field to bring Kiel Roling and Rosario home to bring the deficit to 8-4.
Frisco added one more run in the bottom of the eighth with a Lawson RBI single to center to bring Guilder Rodriguez home and push its lead to five runs.
Rosario added another RBI in the top of the ninth with a solo home run to start the inning and pull within 9-5. Three at-bats later with two outs on the board, Eider Torres singled to center field to bring Jason Van Kooten home and draw within 3 runs. In the next at-bat, Bronson Sardinha grounded out to first base to end the game.
Tulsa will take a day off to travel before starting a six-game home stand Wednesday.
