TUSCON, Arizona -- The Oklahoma State Cowgirls (44-16) were bumped from the NCAA Tournament Saturday when the Hofstra Pride beat them 5-2.
The Cowgirls fell behind early, as Hofstra’s Becca Bigler hit a double for an RBI, as Sara Michalowski crossed the plate.
The Pokes answered back in the top of the third with a run, and again in the top of the fifth as they took the lead with an RBI by Alysia Hamilton.
The Pride responded with an explosive fifth inning, posting four runs, including a two-run homer by Michalowski to win the game 5-2.
The Cowgirls’ Kat Espionosa (19-5) finished with the loss, having pitched 4.2 innings. She gave up four hits and struck out one Pride batter.
Hofstra’s Olivia Galati (25-6) threw a complete game, giving up eight hits while striking out three hitters.
