TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa used a four-run fifth inning in its 7-3 victory over Springfield Saturday. The Drillers have won sixth straight against the Cardinals.
Daniel Mayora’s three-run home run capped the four-run inning for the Drillers as they took a 6-2 lead. Elder Torres started the scoring, coming home on a Ryan Harvey single. Mayora would score the last Tulsa run in the bottom of the seventh on a fielding error to put the Drillers on top 7-3.
Mayora drove in the game’s first run in the first inning on a single to left field. Mayora finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored.
Wilin Rosario led off the fourth inning with a double and would later score on a Keith Weiser single.
Pete Kozma hit a solo homer in the top of the second to tie the game 1-1. Springfield would score single runs in the fourth and eighth inning.
Weiser (3-3) earned the win for the Drillers giving up three earned runs in eight innings of work.
Nick Additon was tagged with the loss for the Cardinals after allowing five earned runs in four innings.
The two teams continue their four-game set at 2:05 p.m. Sunday.
