COLLEGE PARK, Maryland -- Keilani Ricketts made her one-hitter look easy while getting plenty of help offensively as Oklahoma beat Syracuse 10-0 in five innings Friday in the first round of the College Park (MD) NCAA softball regional. The Sooners scored in all four of their at-bats.
Lindsey Vandever, Haley Nix and Katie Norris each had two RBIs for Oklahoma (44-10). The Sooners will play Fordham at 11:00 a.m. Saturday.
Oklahoma scored twice the first inning on just one hit off Syracuse starter Jenna Caira (19-12). Caira did not make it out of the opening frame.
Norris added two of Oklahoma's three runs in the second on a single and the Sooners added a run in the third. Nix's two-run homer was the highlight of a four-run fourth for OU, which allowed it to get the run rule victory.
Ricketts (29-8) threw just four innings while she and reliever Michelle Gascoigne combined for 10 strikeouts and a one-hit shutout.
