LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas -- The Tulsa Drillers outlast Arkansas to gain a 7-6 victory in 12 innings Thursday. Scott Beerer scored the game-winning run in the top of 12th on a Wilin Rosario double. Al Albuquerque (1-2) earned his first win of the season after pitching two scoreless innings for Tulsa.
The Drillers had the bases loaded in the top of the 11th but could not take advantage. After an intentional walk to pack the paths, Jeff Kindel flied out to left to end the inning.
Tulsa tied the game 6-6 with two runs in seventh inning. Matt Repec scored on an Anthony Jackson single to center. Jason Van Kooten crossed the plate on the next play to even the contest. He also hit a solo home run in the top of the fifth.
Efren Navarro hit a two-run double to left to put Arkansas up 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth. He would score on the next play to put the Travelers on top 6-4. Navarro scored Arkansas’ only run of the fourth inning to tie the game 3-3.
Jeff Kindel and Beerer scored on consecutive plays for the Drillers in the top of the fourth inning as Tulsa took a 3-2 advantage.
Clay Fuller hit an RBI single and scored a run to put the Travelers on the scoreboard in the second inning.
Daniel Mayora scored the game’s first run in the top of the first on a Ryan Harvey single.
Barrett Browning was tagged with the loss after giving up one run in three innings of work.
Both teams return to action at 7:10 p.m. Friday for game two of their series.
