TULSA, Oklahoma – A pair of Tulsa Talons picked up league awards for their performances in a 62-56 win over the Alabama Vipers last Saturday night.
Linebacker Jamar Ransom and wide receiver Donovan Morgan both earned week 6 honors.
Ransom was named the JLS Ironman of the Week after leading the Talons on a second half assault against the Vipers. After being gashed for big plays in the first two quarters, Ransom picked up the pace to finish with 7.5 tackles, a pass break-up and sack for a safety.
Ransom’s takedown of Vipers’ quarterback Kevin Eakin helped turn the momentum Saturday night. The two points gave Tulsa the ball back and a lead they would never give up.
The league named Morgan its Cutters Catch of the Week. The player Tulsa fans affectionately refer to as “Spiderman” made a spectacular one-handed touchdown grab that would make even the web-slinging superhero blush. Late in the third quarter, Morgan broke free from his defender and hauled in the one-hander in the corner of the endzone to cap the Talons’ comeback. Tulsa tied the game a 42 after the sensational grab.
Morgan hauled in seven catches for 76 yards and four touchdowns against Alabama. He leads the team in catches, receiving yards and touchdowns.
The Talons are on the road this Saturday to take on the Cleveland Gladiators.
