OU Earns Win in Breast Cancer Awareness Game

Sooners pitcher Keilani Ricketts threw her 10th shutout against the Kansas Jayhawks as Oklahoma donned pink jerseys for Breast Cancer Awareness.

NORMAN, Oklahoma -- The No. 12 Oklahoma Sooners’ Keilani Ricketts pitched her 10th shutout Saturday, leading her team to a 2-0 victory over the Kansas Jayhawks.

The left-handed pitcher improved to 23-8 on the season after throwing her 21st complete game. She allowed just two hits while striking out nine Jayhawk batters.

Kansas’ Allie Clark (8-8) finished with the loss after pitching six innings on the mound. She gave up six hits and struck out two Sooners.

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the third, when OU notched two runs.

Clark opened the inning by walking Amber Flores. Jessica Shults followed by reaching first on a single to right field, advancing Flores to second. Evan Sallis replaced Shults at first and stole second on the next pitch.

Haley Nix singled, sending Sallis to third and hitting home Flores for the inning’s first score.

Nix was able to steal second with Ricketts at bat. Clark loaded the bases by walking the Sooners’ pitcher. Katie Norris grounded out in the next at-bat while Sallis crossed the plate for Oklahoma’s second and last run of the game.

The Sooners will next travel to North Texas May 6 for their final regular season game.
