LINCOLN, Nebraska -- The Sooner softball team capped off a two-game sweep of Nebraska with a 8-0 six-inning win.
Michelle Gascoigne (5-0) received the win for the Sooners (36-10, 10-3), after going 1.2 innings, giving up one hit and striking out three.
OU (36-10, 10-3) got on the board in the top of the second when Katie Norris doubled down the left field line to score Haley Nix and Lindsey Vandever. Two at-bats later, Haley Anderson singled to left field to bring Norris home and expand the lead to three runs.
The Sooners then expanded the lead (27-22, 6-8) with two runs in the fourth inning. Jessica Shults drove home Anderson and Vandever hit a sacrifice bunt to bring Amber Flores home.
The fifth added two more runs for Oklahoma. Wendy Trott singled up the middle to score Chana’e Jones and Anderson hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Karolyn Long home.
Despite giving up eight runs, Ashley Hageman (12-9) pitched a complete game for the Cornhuskers, giving up 10 hits and striking out two.
Oklahoma is back in action Wednesday at home in a Bedlam Softball matchup with in-state rival Oklahoma State.
