STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma State grabbed its fourth straight win with a 17-1 victory over Oklahoma Wesleyan Wednesday.
OSU (23-13) got going early. Leadoff hitter Davis Duren hit a triple on the second pitch he faced. In the next at-bat, Tom Belza singled to center to bring him home. Two batters later, Nico Rosthenhausler gave OSU a 3-0 lead with a sacrifice fly to center that scored Belza and Kevin David.
The Eagles (15-30) pulled pitcher Chris Needham (6-5) after that inning after giving up three runs on three hits.
The Cowboys added three in the next inning, including a two-run home run to left field from Kevin David to score Belza. Mark Ginther started the next inning with a solo home run to left field and three batters later Dusty Harvard singled up the middle to score Dean Green to make the Cowboys’ lead 9-0.
Oklahoma State played small ball for the rest of the game and added two runs in the fourth, sixth and eighth innings to finish the game with 17 runs on 20 hits.
OWU scored its only run in the sixth inning. Johnny Porter started the inning off with a single to left field and stole second to advance to scoring position. In the same at-bat, Mickey Armstrong doubled to center to bring him home and put the Eagles on the board.
Don Lisi (1-0) went four innings for the Cowboys, giving up five hits and no earned runs to earn his first win of the season.
OSU is back in action Friday to start a weekend series with Texas in Austin.
