STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma State defensive coordinator Bill Young will receive the Merv Johnson Integrity in Coaching award by the Oklahoma Chapter of the National Football Foundation and the College Football Hall of Fame Tuesday.
Young was instrumental in the Cowboys’ defensive turnaround in 2009. OSU gave up 42 fewer yards on the ground and 73 fewer total yards per game, which contributed to a top-five ranking early in the season.
"We're excited that Coach Young is being recognized with an award like this because it goes beyond just football," Mike Gundy said in a press release. "It speaks to the kind of person that he is. He is a great role model for all of the young men in our program and is a tremendous representative of Oklahoma State University."
The award will be given out at the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete Banquet, Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Jim Thorpe Museum and Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame. Oklahoma Sports Sports Director Dean Blevins will emcee the event.
