TULSA, Oklahoma –Seth Furmanek used his arm and bat to push Oral Roberts past No. 30 Wichita State on Tuesday night.
Furmanek threw a complete game six-hitter, had three RBI, and scored two runs to lead the Golden Eagles to a 7-1 victory.
Furmanek drove in the first run for ORU with a bases loaded walk in the first inning and capped off the inning by scoring on a wild pitch. The run gave the Golden Eagles a 4-1 lead.
ORU maintained its lead until adding three runs in the seventh. Furmanek drove in two of those run with a two-run home run.
After struggling on the mound early on, Furmanek settled in and retired 12 of 13 at one point in the game.
The Golden Eagles and Shockers conclude their two-game set on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
