TULSA, Oklahoma -- Senior night ended right for Tulsa’s three seniors as the Golden Hurricane defeated SMU 58-55 Wednesday. Seniors Ben Uzoh, Jerome Jordan and Bishop Wheatley were honored in a pregame ceremony.
Uzoh had 20 points, while Jordan added 12 points to go along with 13 rebounds. Wheatley finished with six points and five rebounds.
SMU (14-15, 7-8) trailed by nine points with less than two minutes left in the game. Mouhammad Faye’s 3-pointer capped a Mustangs’ 8-0 run that pulled the Mustangs to within one point with 45 seconds remaining. Uzoh hit two free throws with nine seconds left in the game to put Tulsa (21-9, 10-5) up three. Derek Williams’ 3-pointer missed the mark with four seconds as Jordan pulled down his 13th rebound of the game to ice the contest.
The Mustangs scored the first three points to start the second half. The Golden Hurricane then used a 13-2 run to take a 37-29 lead.
The first half was very tight as neither team led by more than five points and both squads went in to the half tied at 24.
Williams led the Mustangs with 15 points.
Tulsa will finish out the regular season on the road against Memphis at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, March 6.
