DALLAS -- Despite never having coached against each other, Mike Gundy and Houston Nutt have a history.

While Gundy was quarterbacking Oklahoma State from 1986-1989, Nutt was an assistant coach and the wide receivers coach. When Nutt left to become the assistant coach at Arkansas, Gundy was the man who stepped in to fill his shoes as the wide receivers coach.

And now that both are FBS head coaches, they are part of the tree of coaches that links back to Pat Jones and the man he replaced at the helm of the Cowboys, legendary coach Jimmy Johnson.

For the first time the two coaches will face off in the Cotton Bowl Jan. 1, 2010.
