STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- It was billed as the game to decide who would represent the South in the Big 12 title game.

When the No. 13 Oklahoma State Cowboys started the fourth quarter down 41-7, the Cowboys’ hopes at winning a Big 12 title fell somewhere between slim and none.

The Cowboys went on to score once more in the game, but when the final gun fired Oklahoma State was down 41-14, and now their hopes for a shot at a conference title are out of their hands.

“That’s a tough one. I don’t know any other way to put it,” said Gundy “When you turn the ball over and make that many mistakes against a team that has got that much ability, it’s very difficult to win the game.”

Quarterback Zac Robinson started the game off well, both passing and running to keep the Texas defense honest. But as the game went on the Longhorn defense tightened up and forced the senior quarterback to make mistakes. Robinson threw four interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns, the last of which came with 9:31 left in the game and sealed the Cowboys’ fate.

“That is probably by far the best defense I’ve faced in my career,” said Robinson “They did a great job covering things up. I was trying to force it there late in the game, and it all went downhill.”

The OSU defense fared well against Texas, holding quarterback Colt McCoy to only one touchdown on the day, and Texas as a whole to less than 100 yards rushing. But the defensive dominance was not complete. Texas running back Cody Johnson had two touchdowns, and McCoy gained 205 total yards on the day.

“They have really good players,” said Cowboys defensive lineman Derek Burton. “If we give them any room, they are going to take it for a lot of yards. We did a pretty good job on them, but we still have to make more plays.”

The Oklahoma State Cowboys will look to get back on track Nov. 7 in Ames, Iowa against the Iowa State Cyclones.
