TULSA, Oklahoma -- Going Green helped feed the needy Thursday as Advanced Metal Recycling gave the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma more than $5,700.
The company raised the money during an Earth Day recycling event.
The food bank will use the money to fund their backpack program which helps feed hungry school children.
"They put food items in a backpack and send it home with them so whenever they get to school the next day, they're nourished, they're rested," said Todd Ray of Advanced Metal Recycling.
"It's a local company taking care of their local kids in the community - and that's the way you make change," said Regina Pickens, Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.
To raise that money, Tulsans recycled 2.2 million aluminum cans in just two days.
