TULSA,Oklahoma -- A man was seriously injured in a high speed wreck just before 5 a.m. Saturday on Yale Avenue at the Interstate 44 overpass. Tulsa police say the man was pinned in his vehicle for about 45 minutes before crews could cut enough of the car away to free him from the wreck.

The driver was going northbound at what police called a high rate of speed when he lost control of his Toyota Camry and went off the road to the right and struck a bridge pylon.

The man, who is described as being in his 20s, was freed from the badly damaged vehicle by Tulsa firefighters. His injuries, though serious, are not believed to be life threatening, police say.
