Skiatook Student Injured On The Way To School Thursday Morning

A Skiatook middle school student on the way to school Thursday morning was injured when stepped into roadway and was struck by a truck.

SKIATOOK, Oklahoma -- A Skiatook middle school student on the way to school Thursday morning was injured when stepped into roadway and was struck by a truck.

Police say the student was walking west on Oak at 7:36 a.m. when she stepped off the curb into the street near Fairfax.

Newman Middle School is located in the 2000 block of West Oak.

The officer who investigated said the student suffered only minor injuries but was taken to a hospital in Owasso as a precaution.

The driver of the truck was not cited.

Skiatook Police said there was no crosswalk where the accident occurred.
