OKLAHOMA CITY -- The state's unemployment rate has dropped for the third straight month, dropping to 6.5 percent in February, down 0.1 percentage point over the month before.

According to the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission, Oklahoma shed 5,200 jobs last month, with a large loss in education and health services reported.

For the year, the state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was down by 0.8 percentage point.

The national jobless rate remains at 8.9 percent. The Labor Department says the unemployment rate dropped in 27 states in February. It rose in seven states and stayed the same in 16.
