TULSA, Oklahoma -- Police believe the arrest of a 51-year-old Tulsa man after a high-speed chase early Thursday may have cleared up a number of Tulsa residential and business burglaries over the past several months.
Tulsa Police were called just after 6 a.m. after an employee of a landscaping business at 112th and Delaware spotted a man in a pickup truck leaving the business.
The employee tried to follow the truck but lost him.
A short time later, a police officers spotted the pickup truck northbound on U.S. Highway 169 at 81st Street.
When the officer attempted to stop the pickup, it sped off.
The chase ended when the pickup truck crashed into a church building at 31st and East 85th Avenue. The driver, Richard Mayes ran from the truck but was captured a block away.
Police say Mayes is an ex-employee of the landscaping business.
Inside the pickup truck police say they found a number of items taken in recent burglaries at the landscaping business and other locations.
The pickup truck itself was reported stolen from a QuikTrip at 31st and Sheridan last week.
Mayes was booked into the Tulsa County jail.
