TULSA, Oklahoma -- The principal of Holy Family Cathedral school will spend a day on the roof thanks to a successful "Raise the Roof" fundraising project.
Students collected over $1,000 in an effort to provide a new roof for the school, and their reward: sending the principal to perch on the old roof for 24 hours. Principal Jim Luetkemeyer promised the kids he would spend a chilly February day on top of the school if they were successful in collecting change.
That day will dawn Monday, February 21.
"Anytime you have a building that is nearing 100 years of age you can count on a number of repairs," Luetkemeyer said.
"This year, Holy Family is focusing on improving our roof. We hope to make these roof repairs over the summer, and we needed a way to energize the community and raise funds for this project. Thus the ‘Raise the Roof' campaign was born, and our community can put me up of the roof on a cold February day. We are looking forward to this event being a tremendous success!"
MidFirst Bank has pledged to match the funds up to $1,000. They will send a truck to the campus at 820 South Boulder on Thursday, March 3.
The weather won't be as warm as over the weekend but is a significant improvement over the first two weeks of February!
