TULSA, Oklahoma -- Two Tulsa Arvest banks were targeted Saturday morning by one or more armed bandits.

Tulsa police were first called out to the Arvest bank at 2500 West Edison Road around 10:43 a.m.

Police say the man's plan to rob the branch was thwarted by some quick thinking tellers who locked the front doors as the suspect approached with his hood up and mask on.

When the man reached the locked doors, he took out a handgun, shot into the ground and took off, police said.

Just 15 minutes later, the Arvest branch at 4836 East 36th Street was hit.

A suspect jumped over the counter and brandished a small caliber handgun and demanded cash. The suspect then took off with a garbage bag full of cash.

A surveillance camera grabbed photos of the suspects at both locations, but the photos don't appear to show any faces. No one was injured in either incident.

The suspect in the attempted robbery is described as a black male, 5-feet-7 wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and black bandanna.

The suspect in the second Arvest robbery is described as a black male in his mid twenties, 5-feet-7, and wearing a multicolored stocking cap, blue nylon rain jacket and black pants.

Although the suspects descriptions are similar, Tulsa police did not mention if the two incidents are connected.

Police say these are the fifth and sixth bank robberies in a month.

Anyone with information on the identity of these bandits is asked to call the Robbery Tip Line at 527-0085, the FBI at 664-3300, or call Crime Stoppers at 596-2677.
