RAMONA, Oklahoma -- The Ramona Police Department has $15,000 for the purchase of a new police vehicle, thanks to Cherokee Nation Entertainment. That brings the department up to three police units that are shared among eight officers.

"We are very excited to work with the Cherokee Nation and Cherokee Nation Entertainment to better our community," said Ramona Police Chief Steve Solomon.

"The addition of this vehicle will allow us to further protect our community and citizens."

The Ramona PD employs two full-time employees, two part-timers and four reserve officers – operating on a tight budget.

"We're happy to contribute $15,000 to the Ramona Police Department and to help make Ramona a safer community," said David Stewart, CEO, Cherokee Nation Entertainment.

"We strive to be a good community partner, and we're pleased our contribution helps make a positive impact on the people of this area, while helping to ease the financial burden on the city of Ramona."

Cherokee Casino Ramona opened in May 2010.
