TULSA, Oklahoma -- A major winter storm that has shut down airports in New York and New England could cause headaches for holiday travelers trying to get back home.

Tulsa International Airport spokesperson Alexis Higgins says for departing Tulsa passengers the problem will be at the connecting hubs and not Tulsa.

Once the airports in the New York City area reopen Monday evening, passengers who've been stranded at connecting hubs will be booked on flights and the system will slowly get up to speed.

Higgins' advice is for passengers to check with their airlines before getting to TIA to make sure flights at their airlines' connecting hubs haven't been delayed or canceled.
