SAND SPRINGS, Oklahoma -- A Texas company has notified the city of Sand Springs that will be closing its facility in Sand Springs and has begun the process of laying off workers.
Plant Performance Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation, based in Sugarland, Texas, sent a Facility Closure Notice to the City of Sand Springs this week.
The move will leave about 73 workers looking for a job by the first of February.
Plant Performance Services is located at 1520 South 129th West Avenue.
In the letter, Fluor officials say "the first separation of employment will be on or about October 25, 2010, and selected employees will be receiving 60 days pay and benefits in lieu of notice."
They say the facility in Sand Springs will not reopen.
According to its web site, Plant Performance Services is a leading provider of specialty and construction services to domestic industrial facilities, particularly in the oil and gas, refining, chemicals, petrochemicals, and power generation industries.
