TULSA, Oklahoma -- A Green Country soldier is back at home.
Private First Class Jeremy Brewer got quite a surprise when he landed in Tulsa.
Instead of waiting at the security checkpoint at Tulsa International Airport, friends and family surprised him at the baggage claim.
He says, at first, he was a little shocked since he was expecting a big welcome home out of the gate.
After a few tears and lots of hugs, Brewer is ready for some R&R.
"I miss being around family mainly. I was calling, texting every day, so I'm just real family oriented. It's great to be back in Tulsa, first of all, and then just get to hang around friends and family while I'm back," said PFC Jeremy Brewer, U.S. Army.
"We've been anticipating this moment for a very, very long time and we're here to bring him home for the next 15 days," said Demeta Brewer, Jeremy's mother.
PFC Brewer has been in Afghanistan for the past six months. He's expected to come home for good in January.
