It's almost here! The final week before the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure! I am so excited about this year's event. I have almost doubled my race team this year. Thank you to everyone who has signed up for my team. There's still time to get involved. Log on to Susan G. Komen for the Cure for details, and if you can't participate or donate money, how about volunteering your time. There are lots of opportunities from folding t-shirts, to stuffing packets to selling merchandise! If you've got a couple of hours of time, they need you!
If you're not familiar, Komen Tulsa is an affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. This organization was founded nearly 30 years ago by Nancy Brinker, Susan Komen's sister. Susan died from breast cancer but before she did, she made Nancy promise her to do everything in her power to help fight this disease. After her death, Nancy began a fundraising campaign. She asked friends to make a donation and with about $200 in a shoe box, the Komen organization was born. This promise between two sisters has grown to include thousands of people around the world. To read more about Susan and Nancy, log on to the national website, Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
See you on race day!
