TULSA, OKLAHOMA -- The Navistar bus plant in Tulsa will soon begin filling orders for military vehicles that will go to support the Afghan National Army.

Navistar's Defense arm says the Tulsa facility will soon begin the production of 66 military buses.

The Tulsa bus plant has built similar buses for the military in the past.

In a news release Tuesday, Navistar announced it has received $66 million in delivery orders for a variety of military vehicles.

The military buses will be produced in Tulsa with other military vehicles to be produced at its Garland, Texas and West Point, Mississippi plants.

"In less than seven years, we have received nearly 30,000 vehicle orders, with a majority of those being military commercial off the shelf vehicles," said Archie Massicotte, president of Navistar Defense. "This diversified portfolio provides a strong base for our business, and it will continue to do so as we sustain these vehicles throughout their 15-20 year lifecycles."

Deliveries will begin in December.
